Interpretation
LSC’s interpreters are an essential bridge between people who speak or sign in different languages. For legal proceedings, medical appointments, business meetings, educational discussions, and international conferences, LSC’s highly trained and experienced interpreters make sure that a consistent, clear message is conveyed and that everyone is heard and understood.
Interpreters provide on-site work in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and are also available for remote/virtual interpretation.
Our staff members have excellent language skills, cultural knowledge, and professionalism, and adhere to the highest confidentiality and ethical standards, including HIPAA requirements. If you need an interpreter with medical or other certification, we can provide one.
We offer two modes of interpreting:
Simultaneous interpreting requires the interpreter to listen and speak (or sign) at the same time the other person is talking or signing. Interpreters often work in pairs, depending upon the length and complexity of the session.
In consecutive interpreting, the speaker/sign language communicator pauses briefly after a few words or phrases so the interpreter can communicate in the target language. The original speaker and the interpreter take turns. Consecutive interpreters often take notes while the speaker is talking, to help them be precise and thorough, to ensure accuracy.
